Bronwin Adams: Establishing a career in the hospitality industry is the best decision that I made for my future. This is my passion and I won’t change my career in this industry for the world. I want people to be inspired by the work that I do currently and will do in the future.
It is my dream to use my God-given talent, studies and experience as a chef in various ways, such as in bistros, cafés, catering, television cooking programmes and food festivals. I also have a passion for educating people and my ultimate goal is to one day own a business in the culinary sector. It excites me to use ordinary ingredients and develop a recipe that I can call my own. I want to wake up each day, stepping into my own business and educating the staff whom I employ. I am willing to work hard for everything I want to pursue in this industry, making my dream a reality, starting now, at the age of 21 years old as a qualified chef, to build my career from the ground. I also want to specialise in professional cooking and as a pastry chef. Further studies are still in the pipeline. Therefore, I am slowly building a public profile as a chef through my Facebook page @ChefBronwin while I am studying.
I work hard and had opportunities to gain practical experience in the hospitality industry and this has opened my eyes to, among other things, what the public prefers to consume. I coach myself in thinking about the latest trends and how to exceed my guests’ needs and expectations regarding what they would like on the menu that I will provide, whether it is on a restaurant, a bistro or a café menu.
I believe I can personally and positively influence various people through the work that I will be able to do after my studies, especially changing the mindset of people about this vibrant industry. I guess that makes me a self-appointed ambassador of sorts!
I also believe in giving back to the community, especially those on shoestring budgets, by teaching them how to prepare tasty food with a small amount of ingredients. This will help them stretch their rands, but in a pleasurable way.
