Welcome to Rewriting the socio-political history of the arts: Decolonising the arts curriculum (RADA).

This project aims to make available documentations of local, material culture produced in previously disadvantaged communities around Stellenbosch University. The project is geared towards the documentation of material culture, namely objects, traces and/or events among local communities that can be described as textual (such as poetry, literature, art, craft and design), spatial (architecture and landscape), performative (theatre and dance) and sensory(with interests such as food, games and sport). The examples found in this archive speak directly to an attempt to decolonise the art curriculum and to provide a broader and more inclusive perspective on art production in Stellenbosch.
