Description

Bana Ba Kgotso is a gospel choir started in 1999 in Kayamandi. Translated from isiXhosa it means ‘children of peace’. The choir practises three times a week and performs once or twice a month around the Western Cape province. Bana Ba Kgotso’s music is based on the gospel tradition of clap & tap, which is an acoustic choir singing style that started in Soweto in the 1960s. The name derives from the clapping of the hands and the tapping of the feet instead of instruments.
