Omeka Classic

Omeka Classic is a free, open source content management software tool that enables you to create dynamic online exhibits that showcase collections of digital images, text, themes, plug-ins and other multi-media formats in one seamless site. Omeka Classic offers a web publishing platform that is flexible, extensible and is simple to use.

Omeka Classic allows users to join their community for innovation, sustainability and answers to questions posted by users.

SU Omeka Classic User Agreement

• A research group - rather than an individual researcher – can apply for an Omeka site.
• Ongoing initiatives, rather than short term projects - managed under the auspices of Stellenbosch University – can apply for an Omeka site.
• Content published on Omeka must be publicly available.
• The site owner must be a permanent SU member of staff.
• A person with an active SU engagement and active SU credentials (SU username and password) must be assigned as a site curator/custodian.
• Sustainable funding must be available for the implementation, support and maintenance of the site. The Omeka service fee is payable annually.
• Site owners must have appropriate copyright permissions to publish content to the site.
• Site owners must comply with all SU policies regarding intellectual property.
